Winners testimonials
Expresso was my first taste of a film festival, and I had a really great evening. The quality of work was really inspiring, and made the win that much sweeter. The event ran very smoothly and the chance to network with the other attendees & industry professionals afterwards was extremely beneficial. If you're wanting to learn the mechanics of making a film & getting it into a festival, I couldn't recommend Expresso 90 enough.
Oli Cordova (Hark! Pictures) - 'Overall Winner' - 2023
Winning the festival really helped me as a young filmmaker. Networking is one of the most important parts of the film industry and winning an award gave me the confidence to socialise and exchange details with other filmmakers. Because of Expresso 90, I’ve made loads of contacts and even had direct contact with the BBC. The festival was really enjoyable and it was so nice to see so much talent out there. It was really encouraging getting the young filmmakers award as it showed that something that I created appealed to other people aswell. It’s 100% worth submitting your film to the festival because you never know what could happen.
Daniel Griggs - 'Best Young Filmmaker' - 2023
Expresso 90 has given fellow filmmakers from around the world an opportunity to expand creative horizons and build on the foundation of micro-short filmmaking. This festival presented itself as an opportunity to express and explore my passion in filmmaking, but has since become an opportunity for both personal and professional development, resulting in recognition beyond the confines of a cinema screening. My film may have been short, but the outcome from the festival has given me a long and inspiring journey into the medium of visual storytelling.
Callum O'Connor - Overall Winner - 2019
Expresso 90 is a great opportunity to showcase your creativity and skills in a short and compelling way. Since winning the festival in 2018, I have gone on to work with multiple film and TV Production companies across the West Midlands. I have explored different roles, which has helped build my portfolio and given me the opportunity to widen my network. Expresso 90 was the key I needed to get my foot in the door of the industry.
